Dr Aydin Azizi holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an official instructor of the Siemens Mechatronic Certification Program. He also edits the book series Emerging Trends in Mechatronics. His research deals with the modelling, control and optimisation of complex systems, including automation, artificial intelligence and simulation techniques.

His research covers digital twins, process control and nanopositioning with smart materials and artificial intelligence. He has held academic positions in Oman, the UK, Kuwait, Qatar, Australia and Iran, and has worked with Siemens UK on control and digital twin projects.

Dr Reza Barenji

Dr Reza Barenji is a Principal Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, where he is Subject Manager for the postgraduate engineering portfolio. His research focuses on digital twins, modelling, simulation and optimisation of complex engineering systems, and on artificial intelligence for decision support in manufacturing and Industry 4.0. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Enterprise Information Management.

Dr Danial Jahed Armaghani

Dr Danial Jahed Armaghani holds a PhD in civil geotechnical engineering. His research covers tunnelling, rock mechanics, foundation engineering and the environmental effects of blasting. He applies artificial intelligence, numerical modelling and optimisation to predict engineering performance and to assess geotechnical risk. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals.

Dr Roya Ahmadiahangar

Dr Roya Ahmadiahangar works in the Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics at Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, and holds a PhD in power systems engineering. Her research covers demand-side flexibility, demand response and the integration of distributed energy resources in smart grids and microgrids. She also works on machine learning methods for power system planning and management.
